Lack of a Sleep Schedule

As a Mom, there are a few areas I struggle with.  I struggle with many things actually.  My two biggest struggles are sleeping schedules and potty training.  Today, I want to focus on sleeping schedule.  I know this is something that I struggled with all my babies at one time or another.  Now, I have 3 girls that sleep very well through the night with very few night wakings.  Their night wakings are: they need to go to the bathroom, had a nightmare, needing some attention so I will lay with them, or they are sick.

Just when I think Briella is on a schedule, she is not.  I know you are not to wake up a sleeping baby, but here we sit at 10:15 AM and Briella is still sleeping.  Granted I did not get her asleep until midnight last night.  She has proven that she can sleep long periods of time straight.   I need to adjust these long stretches to occur earlier in the night.  I am thinking I need to give her a later bath time to set the mood for sleep time.  Today since she slept in so long, I know nap schedule is totally off too.  Normally I would be okay with winging it, but not knowing when I will have alone time with my husband or me time, is not sitting well with me.  Frankly, it is getting old.  I just need to try to get her on a schedule again.  I just need to remember that this too shall pass.

Mark 9:23

Everything is possible for him who believes

“If you can”? said Jesus.  “Everything is possible for him who believes.” (NIV)

There was a boy who was possessed by an evil spirit who would throw him into fire or water.  The father asked the disciples to cure the boy.  They could not.  “If you can”? said Jesus.  “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

Immediately the father yelled, “I believe!”

Jesus rebuked the Spirit.  “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out.

If you believe, then God can do anything in your life.  If you believe you see God can do all things according to his plan.  You need faith! It’s through faith in Jesus Christ that you’re enabled to accomplish things you never dreamed possible! If you can believe, all things are possible! Faith is the most powerful force a man can have. This statement of Jesus’ was for the man and for all generations to come. Pray and believe.

Presto Griddle

As you can see, this griddle has been used a lot.  I will hold onto this for a long time and most likely pass it on to one of my girls.  Several years ago, this was a gift from my Grandma Wilma, who has since passed on.  I was so excited to receive this gift since I hadn’t owned one at the time.  Now when I use it, I always think of her and her quirky personality.

What do I cook on this? I cook Vegan grilled cheese and pancakes of course.  You can refer back to March 5th’s post for a pancake recipe.

Sandalwood Essential Oil

Add to your shampoo or moisturizer to improve the look of your skin and hair.  Diffuse in your bedroom after a long, stressful day or before meditation.  Apply to your skin the day before a big photo shoot or presentation.  Diffuse or apply to the neck and shoulders at
bedtime for a restful night’s sleep.  After a long day of working on your honey-do-list, add one to two drops to your hot bath to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Promotes healthy-looking, smooth skin.  Reduces the appearance of skin imperfections.  Enhances mood.  Frequently used in meditation for its grounding and uplifting properties.  For an at-home spa experience, fill a large bowl with steaming water, then apply one to two drops
of Sandalwood to your face and cover head with a towel. Place your face above the steaming water.  Your skin will feel nourished and rejuvenated.

Getting Your Children to Clean Up Their Messes

I do not know about you, but I am always struggling with this.  Perhaps, it was my own fault for cleaning up after them since they were real little.  Maybe I did not teach them how to clean up or perhaps I am not holding them accountable enough.  It appears that daily I need to remind my girls to clean up after they are done playing with their toys.  It seems like they play with a toy and then drop it right where they are when a new toy catches their eye.  I tried to teach them once you are done with a toy then put it back.  Apparently there was a breakdown in communication of this.  Many days I find myself or my husband repeating ourselves to have the girls pick up.  Yet every day it is the same thing over and over.  We ask them to pick up, we get stares of disapproval, we repeat ourselves, they do not move, we raise our voices, etc.  I may just need to do a sweep through their toys again.  Maybe they have too many options and if they cannot care for their toys including putting them away, then perhaps they need to earn them back.  Anyone else frustrated with endless toys appearing in all rooms of your house?

Bella Panini Grill

I have had this for a long time.  Paninis might be one of my all time favorite lunches.  I love this appliance so much that I have 2 of them.  This saves some time when making multiple paninis when people are here.

Panini Recipe

Butter both slices of ciabatta bread
Add hummus to one side
Add cooked broccoli with balsamic vinegar in the panini
Close lid and let cook.
Add balsamic vinegar in small bowl for dipping.

Tangerine Essential Oil

Tangerine has a soothing and relaxing aroma.  Cleansing and purifying properties.  Add two to three drops as a flavoring in cake and cookie recipes.  Add one to two drops in water, smoothies, teas, or lemonade for flavoring.  To boost energy and uplift mood, place one to two drops in the palm of your hand, rub together, and cup over the nose and mouth for 30 seconds or diffuse throughout the room.  Apply to flex points or abdomen to promote feelings of happiness.

Psalm 46:10

psalm 46 10

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

In the very busyness of our days, we may struggle to be still.  It is important to choose a specific time of day, to be still and reconnect with God.  For many people, this is as soon as they rise in the morning.  They will take out their Bibles and learn about God.  Some will go outside and enjoy the stillness of the morning.  It is easier to think about God in the stillness before the craziness of the day begins.  For some, especially those with little ones, their be still time is nap time or late at night when their children are sleeping.  Others may even wait until their spouse is sleeping so they may have total silence with God.  I know I fall short in making time for God, the most high.  It is something I am working on, being intentional how I spend my time.  I do read the bible with my children daily, I still need a separate intentional time put aside for my Heavenly Father.   There are days when I have short discussions, prayers with God but I need to set aside a larger chunk of my day.
